Training of Trainors on Tissue Culture & Coco Sap Sugar Processing in WMSU - CA

Twenty five  faculty  from participating ZamPen SUC’s who are  AFNR Project  partners have participated the Training of Trainers on Tissue Culture and Coco-Sap Sugar Processing recently being  held from September 23-25, 2009 at the WMSU College of Agriculture Campus at San Ramon, Zamboanga City.  The seventeen faculty was trained on Tissue Culture while the eight faculty on Coco-Sap Sugar Processing. This training of trainers is the fifth on site training.

The authors of the AFNR supported Module on Tissue Culture of Bananas and also the resource persons of the training on Tissue Culture were  Dr. Jocelyn Pedroso and Prof. Elmer Galo  both are faculty of the WMSU College of Agriculture teaching in the Crop Science Department who are also in – charge of the  College  of Agriculture Tissue Culture laboratory which was newly opened  last month. And on Coco Sap Sugar Processing are Dr. Rafael T. Baguio and Concesa J. Mangaya-ay who are faculty of the College of Agriculture and the authors  of  the  AFNR Module on Coco-Sap Sugar Processing.  The first part of the training was lecture on the fundamentals of the commodities and the second part hands-on processing.
